Locations

LORIA

Loria is the kingdom that the characters are contained within. Because of the curse's effects, the boundaries on the country have been sealed off from the other lands in the world.

Also due to the curse, Loria has been slowly becoming a slum over the last fifty years. Without any heirs, the line to the throne became dubious at best. There are still lords warring with each other for the right to seize control of the kingdom. Without a ruler, bandits and mercenary gangs became just as powerful as the nobles in the land. War, brutality, and oppression have been as much a part of the world as the dark creatures that stalk the night now and the unstable magic that coats the air.

THE GLASS FOREST

The forest is where all of the characters who were sent for by Princess Tristana have ended up. It's a large, sprawling forest that has remained - for the most part - largely untouched by the curse that was unleashed on the land. It is here where glass coffin upon glass coffin lie, each one unique to each person. The Glass Forest is where all characters will wake up and where their bodies will go when they fall back into their cursed sleeps.

While the outer edges of the forest hold relatively few dangers, the further in one goes to travel, the more harm they could find themselves in. Within the dark places of the forest live many creatures who have been tainted by the curse. They are twisted and cruel. Within the center of the forest lives a Great Dragon, who rules over this domain. Enter at your own peril.

ASTOR

Astor is the sole village that still exists on the edge of the Glass Forest. Should people feel the need to take a walk along the perimeter of the forest, they'll find the ruins of other villages in various states of decay. Or infested by one of the local bandit gangs.

Despite the proximity to the forest, Astor is a relatively functioning village. Few bandits are willing to attack a place so close to the forest, and the river nearby provides an excellent source of water and fish. Fertile farm land provides food for the village. There's even an old witch who would be willing to tell your fortune... for the right price.

DRACO MOUNTAIN RANGE

Beyond the village of Astor lies the Draco Range. The mountains start off green before shifting to stone and snow, and the entire area seems to have a thick layer of smoke that hides the peaks. It might seem like a funny name for mountains at first, until a farmer says in a shaky whisper, "That's where the dragons live."

Long before the war between Tristana and Alexandra, the offspring of the Great Dragon moved into the mountains. It provides cover and relative safety for the large beasts, who make infrequent trips into the land to terrorize the people. However, rare plant and animal life reside in this gorgeous landscape, so perhaps the risk of a fiery death is worth it.

RIVERS RED KILL AND LEAF

There are two magical rivers that exist within the borders of Loria. One is pure magic, the other is cursed.

The Red Kill is named for its blood red appearance, often scaring people away. The truth is, Red Kill has magical properties. The red water is a by-product of the man-witch, Mitch.

The Leaf is a cursed river. If you drink the waters, you'll begin to forget a few things. Sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for a few days. Sometimes forever... And it always, without fail, makes the drinker forget that the river is cursed.

KERROS

Kerros is the capital of Loria, where the palace still stands beyond the limits of the city. After Tristana and Alexandra disappeared when the curse was unleashed, many nobles attempted to claim the castle as their own. Kerros, once a might city, fell under the pressure of the skirmishes it saw and from being cut off from other lands.

It's a dark city now. Trade still exists, but it costs an arm and a leg for food. The people are taxed beyond their means, and the local government is corrupt. But there are still pleasures to be found, if you know what you're looking for. Just don't go into the castle at night. Some say the place is a breeding ground for darkness.

LAKE INFERIOR

Lake Inferior is situated in the southern part of the Glass Forest, near the base of the mountains. The water is beautiful, clean, and said to have magical properties. Lake Inferior is also home to mermaids, beautiful women with a little taste for human flesh. Particularly man flesh.

ARATIV

Arativ was one of the few villages that hadn't been swallowed by the Glass Forest following its initial growth spurt. However, the village did not last long. When bandits became a large problem following the barrier, the man in charge made a deal with Fox to get the bandits off their back. When he went back on their deal by making a deal with the bandits, Fox turned a large portion of the humans into rats and let the others be dealt with by the bandits.

The village is now a husk that is overgrown, the buildings still showing remnants of scorch marks.

THE RAT KINGDOM

It's not much of a kingdom, and there really isn't a rat king - although they do seem to have a central leader. The kingdom is a series of dark, mid-size underground tunnels that could lead you to just about everything from certain death to mounds of treasure to a mirror shard that can do untold magic. It's not a friendly place to visit.

LEVON

Just beyond the mountain pass, at the base of the Draco Mountains lies the village of Levon. They have, by far, prospered well enough under the circumstances. Because of their location to the mountains, there are frequently under attack by dragons or wyverns; however, they have a secret weapon. The giant hay stacks that frame the entrance to the village from the mountains are magical in nature. They eat gold and tend to attack giant reptiles threatening harm. They're similar to the roses.

LEKK

Following the curse, many people fled into the mountains, hoping it would be their best shot. That is how the city of Lekk was born. Surrounded by dragons, they knew not many could get in. They built their homes underground, learned to filter in light for farming and irrigation from the dwarves of old tales. Over time, their relationship with the dragons became more than simply using them for protection. Lekkites worship the majestic creatures, finding them godly. A few fanatics are even known to make sacrifices. The people are secretive and rarely let strangers into their city.

OBOK

Obok is the village directly outside of the capital city of Kerros. It was once a great fishing village, until the curse that is. While it is still a fishing village, it is almost completely owned by the Duke in Kerros, forcing them out in perilous conditions for their own profit. The people of Obok are tired and can be harsh, but they're also extremely fair. The Duke can't break their spirits just yet. Here you will find boats, tales of dangers in the water, old stories about former kings and queens, and also relaxing beaches.

THIM

Thim was once a very good neighbor to Arativ, the two of them sharing many things between them before the war. However, where Arativ folded and promised loyalty to Queen Alexandra, Thim refused to fold. They were staunchly in favor of Princess Tristana. For this reason, Alexandra called in a great weapon to destroy the entire village. If there were survivors, none claim to be from Thim. It is said that Alexandra made one of her camps in the ashes of Thim as a symbol of her power. One of the mirror shards was found here by Mitch.

THE DEAD FOREST

Also called the Forest of the Dead. Once the curse hit, this patch of land seemed to shrivel up and become what you see today: gnarled, dead trees, deadly plants that can survive without sunlight, and numerous creatures nobody wants to face. This is also the main home of the banshees, a group of fairies who can predict when someone is near death - which is nearly always with them. Lies on the outskirts of where the Glass Forest stopped growing, between Astor and Kerros.
